Here are some more photo's to hopefully guide you. I have drawn lines to show roughly where you should use the thinning scissors to achieve a tidy effect. Always use the thinners in an upwards direction.

and the back end......
you can use straight scissors to tidy the feathering between the legs

and along the skirt, sorry if this pic is not too clear but I had to crop it to reduce the size of the file :-

Excellent pictures Michele, well done I'm sure they will be appreciated ;D

Thanks Michelle - they are really useful, loved your foot pictures too. The chest picture is especially good as I have been tentatively snipping but not really knowing where to stop or how far to go. Thanks! ;D

Sorry Michelle, me again!
Would it be possible to have a side view of the front and back legs? Risby has loads of hair on the back of his legs and I'm not sure how far to go, especially on the back legs. From what I can see of the back legs in your rear view picture the hair looks quite short.
Thanks
Gerry

Hi Gerry, I will try and do the pics you want asap, I've been taking photo's of pet dogs as they've been in for grooming.
This dog's owner does like him short & tidy and so he is clippered. By adding the lines I hoped you would be able to see where to trim without a lot of excess hair in the way ;D

Thanks very much Michelle, these are brilliant pics. ;D I've always had trouble with the back end of Alfie ::) It's been a hit and hiss affair. Hopefully he will look better from now on. :-[
