Poor you and poor Pipin  :luv:

I just wanted to say I hope whatever you chose to do works out for both of you.

The advice you have already been given on COL really makes sense.

Good luck!  ;)

Of course, it depends how hyper your dog really is and whether it really is out of the ordinary. Cockers can be very lively without it having any other cause that age and lack of self-control (and of course lack of mental and physical stimulation in many cases like walks and training).

This was the case with Bayley

I agree with this point especially at this age as it really can be such a trying time.

Hi.  I'm really out of my depth but just wanted to let you know I had problems with a GSD.  I spent a fortune on 1 to 1 training and had a Behavourist to the home.  He was extremely qualified with GSDs and in the end advised me to re-home her which I very relunctantly did  :'(.

I thought this man was fabulous and had great respect for him - I even recommended him to friends.  I've since found out his methods are now out-dated - dominance - and feel sick.  I miss my girl so much and although I found her a fabulous new home, I feel I've let her down.  I'll never know whether something different could've been done to calm her behaviour.  I want her back and there's nothing I can do about it.

Beware, I'm not saying your Behavourist isn't good, but don't always accept what an "expert" tells you.  ;)

and make sure they're cocker savvy ones --- not all of them understand the little blighters ;)

I think also it can take some time to even get them to listen to you at all at this age --- may be clicker training using lots of yummy/high value food could help to focus her brain a little and teaching her things to try to stimulate her.

IMHO You cannot beat someone who understands dogs but above all specialises in your particular breed.
It is one thing working with dogs but living with them and daily experience of the breed counts for a whole lot more. ;)

Just an update on pipin. Pipin was so badly knotted that where the knotts were so tied against her skin she has got massive infections the vet tried to get rid of it by using creams and giving her injections but it has got worse so today the vet has but her under to drain the pus and clean her skin probaly. Also pipin has an eye infection, ear infection and chest infection poor baby. I am so worried about her having to be put under to do this you just never know how they will react to the injection do you. I also feel really really guitly how could I have let that horrible women do this to my little baby.I phoned the rspca up but there is not much they can do about this women >:Dbut I tried. The pet behavoirset has been in touch and she has said let pipin settle in for the next fews then call her back and we can address what problems we have then.I will let you all know how it goes. So far pipin has been a real baby and just loves to be cuddled which she didn't like before as she was to busy bouncing of the walls. keep your fingers crossed for pipin that all goes well for her today.

Awww poor pipin.

Don't blame yourself for what that horrible woman did.

Pipin is back with you now where she is loved.

Thinking of you both today.

Lots of hugs

Poor poor Pipin - what a horrible experience for her  :'(

That little dog needs love, patience and understanding.  Like the behaviourist has said, let her settle for a week or so and then have her assessed.  Have you made your mind up that you are keeping her for good?
Love Joanne, Misty & Scooby

Yes I am keeping her I never wanted to give her away in the first place its just I thought she would be better off with this lady but how wrong was I.Until you are faced with an illness like I have you won't really know how you would think and feel I couldn't walk her as often. she didn't like it when I was in hospital so I have been told she would howl for me so I thought that if I let her go she would soon get to love this lady and forget about me. Its one of the hardest things I have ever done rehoming her I love her I always have done.I have a few friends that will take pipin out for walks as well now so that will not be a problem if I can't for some reason. Anyway I have just spoken to the vet and all has gone well they have drained the pus and cleaned her skin and sitched her up and she is now just coming round.I am going back to pick her up later so I will let you all know how she is then.
