Is your cocker like your shadow?
« on: November 12, 2007, 01:22:37 PM »
Charlie (just like our first cocker), is like my shadow  :luv: - all he ever seems to want is to be with me, which I love. He can be really tired, but just wants to be next to me, no matter where I am or what I'm doing. I wondered if that was something other cockers do, or if it's just an individual thing. :D Our Border Collie, for example, would rather lie quietly somewhere, when she's really tired. Charlie will drag himself up, though, and come with me, although you can almost hear him sigh. :005:

Coco is the same - wherever I am she is right behind.  ::)  If I want to do anything without her I have to shut her out of the room  :005:

Yep - same here.

Even when both me and OH are at home.  If I leave the living room to go on the computer they will follow. If I am having a bath they wait outside.

I have had a problem with pulled muscle in my side over the weekend and Maddie can't understand why she can't lay on me as normal whilst I am watching tv.  I think she thinks I am punishing her.  Poor Baby.

I complain about tripping over them all the time but TBH I love it  :luv:

So do I - and even though Charlie loves being with me, he has no problems with being left, which is good.  We also have a stairgate, and he doesn't worry about being shut downstairs. :D

(Hope your pulled muscle gets better, btw!)

Mine isn't a shadow, she is quite happily lying upstairs on her own at the moment.

Ellie is the same, wan't lots of cuddles in the morning ,then needs to be where i am for the rest of the day, the only place where she will go away is when training at agility when she will go off  on a scent.

Mine follow me everywhere, although when Ludo is tired he has a favourite spot on the sofa so that when I leave the room he doesn't budge. Flynn, on the other hand, follows me all the time, even when he's sleeping he'll get up and trudge behind me to wherever I'm going. I think he has an in-built alarm system that sets off whenever I'm more than 1 metre away  :005:

It drives my OH up the wall...he calls him and Flynn look's up at me as if to say "I'm not going if you're not".

One thing that surprises me - One dog could be at the other end of the house but when I'm giving the other a (silent) cuddle or some attention they seem to know and come running to get their share!

Charley is exactly the same, as were my previous two Cockers.  I can't move without him being mear me.  When he was a puppy he used to cry to come in the shower with me, and this happened every day until he grew out of it.  Now, he hates to go in.  However, he comes into the bathroom and pulls my towel off the towel rail and lies on it whilst I'm in the shower.

I will now be having a serious conversation with Bracken this evening to point out her failure as a cocker. Surely someone else has one that is happy to laze around sleeping  ;)

Ruby follows me everywhere. I can't even go to the loo without her scratching at the door!

I can't count the number of times I've had a shower and forgotton to latch the door. There appearing around the shower curtain is Ruby standing up at the bath and gazing adoringly at me! Can't I have any privacy! :police:

I actually feel sorry for Ruby sometimes. It's like she has this complusion to follow me. Everytime I get up and go to the kitchen, the garden, the bedroom and she's there right behind me!

She's the same with my mum. She obviously knows the right person to stay friends with though.....the boss!  :shades:

Ozzy is the same, even if he is tired. If I leave the room - he leaves and lays closeby. And yet, he's fine being left on his own.  :luv:
