If he has been there since 27 November he may well have been younger than 4 months when handed in... >:D >:D

Possibly a little more to this story than we realise?  Only reason I say that is because puppies are not usually waiting long for a new home and yet it would seem he has been waiting a month?  I wonder whether the owners did not understand puppy behaviour and dealt with him in such a way that actually created 'issues' where there were none?

Poor little chap, hope he finds a good home soon  :luv:
Makes you wonder why they gave him to the RSPCA & not back to the breeder they brought him from -thats unless they brought him from a puppy farm or shop  >:D >:D

Perhaps the description of him needs to be amended to refer to his age and not be so negative. I would have applied if he were a bitch.

That's what I was thinking.... his issues must be fairly serious or they would have found him a home by now.

I hope the right people turn up soon for him!

As I understand it, the RSPCA don't rehome over Christmas for obvious reasons... and if he came in at the start of Dec effectively, it might just be that they're avoiding the Christmas puppy syndrome. I find it extremely hard to believe that at the point he was handed in - at 4 months or younger, he had genuine 'issues' he's just far too young. Dave would viciously attack anyone that just said 'No' to him at that age too... and he's perfectly normal now (well within reason anyway  )

I would bet my bottom dollar that he has absolutely no 'issues' whatsoever other than having had the bad luck to be bought by idiots ::)  He sounds like a perfectly normal 4 month old puppy, pushing the boundaries is what puppies do. He'll undoubtedly be snapped up though, I doubt if he'll be there for long at all :luv:

Unfortunately he's been there since 27th November....  :'(

I think that may well be because, as Hannah says, if he came in pretty much at the start of December they won't rehome a dog, particuarly a small, cute puppy, in the run up to or over Christmas time. Poor wee mite though, what a start to life, I hope things pick up for him from now on.

Madness! A lot of people dont want to rehome pups, especially ones between the really young stage and adolescence. Add to that the fact he has supposed 'issues' and it could put people off. I hope not though as I bet he'll be a wee star  :luv:

I should have thought of that, especially as I rehomed Henry this time last year and had to wait longer to get him cos of Christmas! Hopefully he will find a new home without too many problems in the New Year then.

OMG was what I thought when I read the subject title.

Scuse my ignorance but I assumed that any issues a dog has is usually down to how it's been raised/treated - 'it's not the breed, it's the owner'.  Like others have said, surely this is a case of a pup pushing the boundaries and being allowed to get away with it thereby reinforcing the bad behaviour?

Poor little mite, fingers crossed someone with doggie sense snaps him up and turns him into a happy chappie.

I do think breeding can play a part. My Rescue Cocker x GSD was born in Rescue and her mum was really scatty and there was only a few of us that were able to get near her and her pups. Nim has always been a little scatty as well. Especially around strangers and kids, but she has improved with the right socialisation, training etc and she has definitely matured a lot. I think she will always have it in her a bit, but as you say bringing her up properly stopped it from getting out of hand. I'm sure this young lad will be fantastic in the right home and as people have said If there anything like where I used to work they don't re-home over Christmas time. Especially puppies. So there's hope for a better 2010 for this little chap.  :luv:

5scompany!  oooops, yes, breeding can play a part, I typed whilst stunned as I was thinking 'puppy, playing, someone takes his toy/food from him, he growls, they go 'oooo!' and give it back, he thinks Ah-ha if I growl, they give it back, simples'  ph34r
