Andis Clipper blades
« on: May 07, 2015, 09:00:54 PM »
I believe they come with a 10 and people recommend a 7.

This means as much to me as how to use a iron.

So how long is a 10 and a 7 blade ?

Thanks

Don't really know but I use both ,10 is short 7 is longer ( meaning it cuts longer) . . So a 40 is a surgical cut. . Does that make sense, or help?

If you look at this link http://www.cockersonline.co.uk/discuss/index.php?topic=32160.msg435560#msg435560 you'll see a photo diagram showing which blades are typically used on different parts of the body and head.

The higher the number on the blade the finer (shorter) the cut. ;) so a 10 is shorter than a 7. On cockers the 7 is for the body and the 10 for throat, head/face and top 1/3 of ears as these areas are groomed tighter and cleaner than the rest. The blades should all have their lengths on them also, but the higher the number the shorter the cut is a good rule. ;) Hope that helps. :)

I don't like Coco clipped too short, so I use a 5F on her body and the 10 on her face/head and underside of her ears  ;)  Then I do her legs/paws and feathers with scissors
