Would you please think about Rosie tomorrow as she is at the vets for an operation.
She is now 13 and although healthy for her age she is full of warts. In January she had to have 2 removed from her front feet, one of which turned out to be a basal tumour, which thankfully was benign.
My vet now thinks she has one in her ear canal, so he is going to try and remove it together with another on her side.
Fingers crossed he will be able to get it all out, as the alternative is an ear canal ablation, which at 13 I don't think I could put her through and my vet's not keen either.
Thank you

Shall think of Rosie, hope it all goes to plan :bigarmhug:

Hope all goes well for Rosie tomorrow - it is always a worry when they are having a GA, especially as they get older. :-\
Coco had an op to remove numerous lumps, bumps and warts last summer (she was nearly 10) and, although she did feel sorry for herself for a couple of days (it was the hottest day of the year when the temp was over 30C so that had something to do with it) - she was absolutely fine with the GA and recovered really well. :D
Thank goodness all the lumps she has had removed so far (she has had lots!) have been harmless fatty lumps, cysts, warts and every other type of benign lump.
Hope it is the same for Rosie :-*

Thank you for all your kind wishes.
She went in this morning bright as a button and none the wiser, except for being miffed that she didn't have her breakfast.

She's home. A bit groggy and ravenous, but she had a little lunch at the vets so she will have to wait until tea time.
When I rang at 1.30pm to see how she was, they said she was in her cage and wanting to go home, so I could come and collect her. When I got there I found out why.... I could hear her at the front door.
Unfortunately the vet wasn't able to get all of the lump out of her ear as it was large and right down. So he suggested that we sent it off for histology to see what we are dealing with. If it's benign then we will manage it medically, but if it's malignant and hasn't spread then taking the ear canal out will be an option that will get rid of it.
So, if I could ask you all to keep fingers, paws and everything else crossed that it's benign. x
-
Poor little Rosie! Glad she's got through the op and GA ok, so now keeping everything crossed really tight that it is benign. I'm sure she's being given lots of cuddles at the moment but sending more :bigarmhug: anyway!

Fingers and paws crossed, that it is benign, please give her a gentle squidge from us :luv: :bigarmhug:

Everything crossed that the lump is benign and no more surgery for Rosie. Hope she is feeling a little brighter today, despite the heat, and her appetite has returned to normal now. Sending :bigarmhug:

We have been to see our vet tonight for Rosie's stitches out. As soon as I walked in my vet said it was excellent news that Rosie's tumour in her ear is benign.
Unfortunately she now has an ear infection, which may become an ongoing problem, due to him not being able to get it all removed. The only solution is an ear canal ablation, which is a big operation, and one that I really don't want to put her through at nearly 13.
She has some ear drops for the next 10 days, so we will see how she gets on. As she is so food orientated she's a good girl having her drops put in and ears cleaned as this means a biscuit :luv:
-
Excellent news! Hopefully her ear can be successfully managed without the need for the op :luv:
-
Great news :D
Hope you can get on top of the ear infection and avoid the need for surgery.
Some Thornit powder might help. ;)

Sorry to hear about Rosie,s problem, but glad the tumour was benign. When Milo went deaf aged around 11, there was talk of ear canal ablation, and Imreally did not want to do that. We managed him on daily cleaning and drops for the rest of his life, he had to have his ears flushed under GA a couple of times, but otherwise we managed. Sure you will be able to keep Rosie comfortable too :bigarmhug: you must be relieved though :D
