How to teach obedience present
« on: April 20, 2007, 05:59:52 PM »
I just wondered if you had any ideas how I could improve Charlie's present - when I do a recall, he races back to me and usually runs into me at full speed. :005: If I ask him to sit in front without a run-up, he is usually crooked and not overly close to me - any ideas??

Practise with you sitting down first, and use a treat to encourage him into the right position.  Hold your hands out in front of you, showing him the treat, and draw his nose into you, and up, his bottom will follow and he will sit nice and straight.  Eventually you will be able to stand up and lure him less.   ;)

whatever you prefer?  Depends a bit on how big your dog is, but I've seen it done both ways.
