Off to a HTM Competition this weekend - UPDATE
« on: May 21, 2009, 02:02:22 PM »
Wish me luck, I am taking Dennis down to Barnard Castle, Durham for a Heelwork to Music Competition.  We went last year but Dennis decided he didn't want to join in as we don't have the pleasure of a safety sausage.

Been training hard for a year to get his heelwork and freestyle routine for the 2.30 mins when he can then have a whole packet of sausages if he likes so hopefully he will decide to join me in our dance.

Good Luck Barbara & Dennis.  Have a lot of fun and enjoy the competion.  We are at our heelwork to music training tonight.  They are hoping next year to book Richard Curtis for H/W Workshop and Cabaret evening . Those who do the H/W class will have first refusal on tickets so am really looking forward to that. I believe the workshop starts at 10am. and finishes about 4pm, with a lunch break in between. He has been to the club several times before, before I started training there.  So all the best to you both from Dylan and Jessie.

Richard Curtis is brilliant, you will have a lot of fun when he does your workshop - he is one of the judges at this weekend's competition - he will be judging the group my training mate is competing in with her Golden Retriever.

Thanks Barbara.  It certainly going to be a highlight in my doggy diary.  It's one of those opportunities that I don't want to miss. It's very difficult finding good H/W music classes in our neck of the woods.   Once again have a great time. Don't forget to post as to how you get on.

UPDATE.... I was well chuffed with Dennis's performance - he stayed with me in the ring and we got plenty of laughs and support from the spectators - probably because we were both dressed as clowns for our first routine.  We didn't get placed this time but that doesn't matter as we achieved what we set out to do - both stay in the ring and for Dennis to join in.  Two weeks to go until our next competition in Glenrothes so plenty of practice between now and then.

Well done to both of you.    As long as yourself and Dennis had fun, and looks like the training paid off.  Best wishes for your next comp in Glenrothes.

Sounds like and looks like you had a great time.   :D I would love to give doggy dancing a go with Solly as she doesn't have a class at the mo, but with Morgana and Avs doing Agility, Showing Tally and Very soon opening my brand new grooming business I'm not sure I have the time,  :shades: but maybe once everything settles down I will have to give it a go.  ;)

Spectators are always welcome at the HTM shows - usually free of charge or for a donation to a doggie charity.  The two Scottish shows are Glenrothes show which is at Fife Institute on 6 June and at Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre, Fife on Sunday 7th June.  Competitors include Advanced doggies and their handlers who are competing for the semi finals to get one of the 10 places at Crufts 2010.
