Blackpool HTM Comp-So proud of Dennis(video added pg 2)
« on: August 07, 2009, 10:02:03 PM »
Dennis with his 'Kiss Me Quick" Hat practicing for his holiday to Blackpool

We're off to Blackpool next weekend for a 'Heelwork to Music' competition.  We are planning to spend an extra couple of days down in Blackpool as I have never been there. One of the days we will have a walk on the promenade (since the beach is a no no - those evil blue flags).  Is there anything else dog friendly recommended we do with whilst we are there.

I live in Thornton-Ceveleys, just north of Blackpool (between Blackpool and Fleetwood)   I was born and grew up in Blackpool but avoid it like the plague now
 ::)
I take Flo on Fleetwood Beach regularly no problems, also as suggested part of Cleveleys beach. (Rossall end) is ok.

(You can walk all the way from Rossall to Fleetwood)

We also have a nice country park at Stanah ( Wyre Country Park) near to me which runs along the River Wyre, plenty of walks there.

Have a look at tourist info here which is based at  ountry Park  http://www.wyrebc.gov.uk/Page.aspx?PvnID=60286&PgeID=1187&BrdCb=1-24-1157-1182-1183 Also Garstang is a lovely little market town/village with lovely walks by the river too.

Where is the HTM held in Blackpool ? Is it open to the public ? Good luck with it ;)

If I can be of any help just let me know  ;)

Jann  :D

The HTM Competiton is at Playfootball.net on Gartsang Road West so I guess it is in Gartstang village so will check out the walks here.  It is open to the public after lunch time which is when all of the freestyle rountines will be taking place from starters through to advanced. There will be around 100 rountines during the day from all breeds, including the crufts champions,  so it should be a fantastic event.

Dennis and I will be doing two rountines - a heelwork one to "The Entertainer" the Bobby Crush version and on our Freestyle we use a 70's disco classic "Dance yourself Dizzy by Liquid Gold" (well I will be prancing around the ring and hoping Dennis keeps with me till the end of the rountine.)

I will check out Fleetwood and Cleverly beach (sounds good.) - looking forward to it.

Garstang Road West is actually on the way into Blackpool ( A585 at Poulton le Fylde)  you will need to go back the other way to Garstang  :-\

I am so proud of my wee boy, he got a 4th with his heelwork routine which means we gain some official KC points in his class.  His got a fairly good score for his Freestyle routine but unfortunately he was not placed as he was marked down for barking (something he only seems to do in the Competition ring).  I am now working on controlling the barking for the next competition.

Here he is proudly displaying his rosette.

Well done Dennis.  Does anyone film the routines at all - it would be great to be able to see it.

Well done to you and Dennis. I know the amount of hard work that goes into it.  Dennis looks really proud of his rosette.
