Whiskers
« on: May 01, 2015, 06:25:18 PM »

This is our new boy Luka. As you can see he's quite a hairy chap! He's going for a groom next week, but I'm swithering over whether to get his whiskers trimmed or to let them grow. I've been trimming the hair under his eyes so he can see, but that's all. He's recently been neutered so I don't know how the rest of his coat will go, but his legs and undercarriage are really curly.

Advice please  :dunno:

I would , I get Rileys whiskers off and it makes his face so clean and defined looking.
I like a non hairy face though lol.

He is gorgeous.

He's butiful.....Kez has a hairy face, so we do both, whatever, it always grows back.

I think I would be inclined to get the clippers on his have to give him the lovely cocker face (not that he doesn't have a lovely face now). Then he'll all be smooth and one length on his face..But of course it depends what you like him looking like :)

I would ask the groomers advice, but ultimately it is your choice. Personally I would prob thin out that area with thinners to start with if I was not clipping the rest,  but if I was I would just clip there also.  :D

Do you mean the fur on his face or his actual whiskers?  I would get the fur trimmed but not the whiskers because they are sensitive tools dogs use to feel their environment and orient themselves a bit like antennae!

In Kez's case you couldn't do one with-out the other. :lol2:  She doesn't seem to mind. ;)

Thanks everyone. I think I'll ask the groomer to trim his face. Hopefully she can avoid his proper whiskers, but it's quite hard to differentiate between them! I'm not going to get him clippered yet. I'd like to try to keep on top of his coat with the coat king as long as possible, although I think his feathers will have to be short as they're so curly. His coat is completely different to Penny's which is fine and silky.
