I waited a week  ;) but Gracie was socialised in other ways before that being carried around like others have done. Pets at Home, School, other poeples houses etc.

I wouldn't mind some clarity on this either please.
So is it first injection at 8 weeks and second injection at 10 weeks, then take them out for walks at 14 weeks (or 13 weeks and a few days, depending on advice) - **OOPS - I meant 12 weeks or 11 weeks and a few days - getting carried away  ::) **

but you can carry them around for those 6 weeks as long as they don't touch the ground?
Is it ok to have people stroke the pup if they have other dogs?

With our vaccines (Vanguard), the vets recommend waiting about 3 - 4 days after the second one so thats what I did with Vegas (back then, the 2nd vaccine was given at 12 weeks). He got carried everywhere for 5 weeks (got him at 7 weeks) Dallas had just had his 2nd vaccination when I was allowed to take him home at 11 weeks and I took him out straightaway. Disney on the other hand has just been dragged up :005: :005: Once he had his first vaccine, he started coming to work with me and I did get a bit lax about carrying him everywhere. I just figured that if he was going to catch anything, he probably would have caught it at the vets so he got a few little walks sneaked in before he was 10 weeks ph34r (and I'm sure the Nobivac datasheet recommends no outings until 10-14 days after 2nd jab).

It would normally be walks at 12 weeks if the second vaccine is 10 weeks which the majority are nowadays. Carrying them around is highly recommended as it gets them used to traffic noises, other people etc etc. I found that after carrying Vegas around for 5 weeks, his first walk didn't phase him at all and even now, loud traffic noises and heavily populated areas don't bother him whereas Dallas was quite fearful in these situations as he didn't experience these things until he was 11 weeks old so it definitely makes a difference.  I took  Disney to training classes at 8 & 9 weeks old just to sit and watch (I took him to his first class at 10 weeks and he didn't even bat an eyelid whereas most dogs are a bit nervous at their first time) and get him used to the noises etc and everyone of course wanted to stroke him and I didn't object. I suppose its down to how strict you want to be about things. (You could always carry some disposable gloves around with you ;) :005: :005:) I have another 2 dogs at home so, in theory, they could have brought some sort of nasty disease in and infected the puppy. I know of a few people who have been told that their resident dogs shouldn't be allowed out either until the pups vaccination program is complete :o  Very OTT in my opinion and something I wouldn't be willing to do :-\

All mine go out a week after the 2nd one (often 6 days!) and have had no problems.

I was completely paranoid about Milo and was convinced he was going to get something nasty :005:, completely over protective Mum!  He didn't go out for walks until 10 days after 2 jab, but I did carry him around with me outside and carried him round local roads etc after 1st jab.  He also had to go to work with me 2 weeks after we had him, and although he didn't come into direct contact with other office dogs (he was crated) there were other dogs in the office.  One of my very dog experienced colleagues pointed out that she had a puppy as well as 3 adult dogs and she hadn't stopped taking her other dogs out until her puppy was ready to be out and about ;).  Milo's breeder was also walking his Mum and her other dogs in the last week or so she had the pups.....

Thanks for clarifying - I originally put 12 weeks but then thought that was wrong for some reason! Maths never my strong point.   ;)

Our vet said 7 days - and my girls were fine.  At our puppy classes we take pups after their first jabs, just as Penel's vet suggests.

Domino went to his puppy class at 12 weeks....2 weeks after his final vac. However I did carry him around everywhere from 8 weeks.
I carried Spike around when he was 10 weeks;however I only did that once! It's amazing how heavy a 10week old labrador can get after about 20 minutes!!! >:(
