You know what, I am not that surprised it didn't go well. I had been wondering if one of the reasons he's blossomed with you was that there was just you and The Big R and not a houseful of folk.

I suppose if you want prospective new parents to see Brocky in his true light, then they're going to have to be calm around him and almost ignore him - let him fuss them on his terms. I know it's difficult, coz their first instinct will be to bestow love on him, but Brocky just needs to be the one making the moves, i think.

By the way.....the old couple with the malamute. If they can put up with one of those, then they can cope with ANYTHING!  :005: My brother had a husky and they are not the easiest of dogs to train into domestic lives....and malamutes are even worse. Have to add that Nina, said Husky was an absolute dream (eventually) and the next dog he wants is indeed a malamute.

As always, good luck....and keep us posted.

I still think that if Rommel can handle your work schedule, Brocky can, and they can keep each other company when you are gone. I work, so I've always kept at least two dogs, so that one dog isn't all alone.

I also think that two cockers can fit in the seat of a sports car and that Brocky would probably enjoy travel

But do what you think is best.......sniffle.....sniffle..... :'( :005:

Its more than just work schedules.

But we shall see. I have always thought that if he cant find a better home (and there are far better than I) then I would be happy to keep him. He really is no bother at all.

We shall see over the weekend...

Kudos to Rommel for not letting them go thinking that cockers are mean and horrible. He really did save the day. Such a good little boy.

The girls at the office swear that he knew he was going so did all he could to stay put.
Could very well be! ;)

Perhaps he's a bit insecure with women due to past experiences. Our Byron has been very wary of strange men ever since our house was broken into two years ago (we could tell he had been kicked).
As jools said, prospective owners are going to have to be calm when meeting him and let him come to them of his own accord. Fussing can really put some dogs off.

I still think that if Rommel can handle your work schedule, Brocky can, and they can keep each other company when you are gone.

I have to say I agree. ph34r :D

Note to Brocky - stay with your man - and do whatever it takes  :luv:  :005:

:005: :005:  Sorry but I think he's found his home - ideal or not!

I do applaud you for trying to find him a better one though .......................... just thinking that you'll be looking for a long time!  I do hear what you're saying and I agree that a young dog needs more attention that you can give ........................ but he's happy and you are happy so far?

If you could ask him if he'd like to leave you and Rommel for a prospective home that could give him more attention - would he go? Or has he formed a bond already?

Lets hope that the ideal owner is about to knock on your door  ::)

talk about omens, I had a little doggy bag packed for him just in case and last night Rommel opened the cupboard and unpacked it.

(unpacked = ate all the food in it)

Maybe Brocky doesn't want to live with a load of people.  ph34r Sounds like he is quite happy with just the three of you boys together!  ;) Don't underestimate what you can offer him - a family with lots of members does not necessarily mean he will have a happier life than you can give him.  :-\ Good luck with finding his forever home wherever that turns out to be - you will know if it is right for your boy  :D  And if you want to go travelling - you may just have to get a bigger car with room for the 3 of you!!  :shades:  :005:

Our second foster should be going to her new home on saturday  :-* She growled at the couple when they came to see her, but I told them to ignore her and gradually her inquisitveness overcame her.

On the second visit things went better and after a treat or two  ::) she happily let them walk her. She comes from a home where her owner was found dead and she had been living in a doggie pack of 5 and had been fighting with at least one of them as she had some nasty wounds on her neck.

She is a shy little lady and I'm just praying that when she goes there she settles down quickly, they are a lovely retired couple and will be around most of the time and I think she will adapt.

With the new visitors get them to ignore Brocky for the first 10 minutes or so and just sit down and chat to them, I'm sure his inquisitive nature will come from. Also maybe give them a few treats that they can trade for a few strokes.

Good luck with whatever you decide, you are very brave doing this without rescue back-up and sounds like you have really helped the guy,

If Brocky does end up staying, he and Rommel could become Cocker Adventurers like these two  ;)

Their owner is a photographer who does a lot of travelling and his Cockers go just about everywhere with him. ;) :D

Im sure you mentioned in your original post about Brocky that the lady at the pound said he was snappy and growled at her? If he also growled at the lady today - maybe he has been abused in the past by a woman   :'(

I hope Brocky gets his forever home soon - be that with any prospective family this weekend... or even yourself!  ;)  :D

I'd see if lovely ladies (or a lady) at the office can meet him, maybe try a bit of a 1-1 with a woman? (that's Brocky too btw...  :shades: )

Seriously, socialisation with ladies is in order i think. Also agree with the visitors to ignore him at first and let him come to them.

Good luck!

I think you should keep him.

Although you say that there are better homes than yours, I don't think that's true.  Brocky loves you - you can see it in your pictures - and I think he'll miss the both of you if you let him go.  He's happy and has Rommel for company when you're not there.

I can understand your concern for Brocky, and not letting your heart rule your head, but think about it.  From all you have written I'm sure that Brocky has found his "forever home".  If he does go elsewhere, I think you'll miss him like hell.

I think you have been duped, hornswoggled, led down the garden path by the two of them.  They are not in a cupboard somewhere sharing the snacks Rommel rescued from Brockys doggie bag and going 'Mwuuuuhahahahaha' are they?? :005:
