Grooming reassurance
« on: May 07, 2009, 10:19:35 AM »
Morning everyone - just wanted a little bit of advice and reassurance.

We had our two year old cocker Hudson groomed last night. Unfortunately the groomer was a bit heavy handed with the trimming. He now looks like he has been sheared by a sheep farmer.

He has/had very straight hair on his back that never really grew out to any length. His hair only really grew long on his ears, legs and undercarriage. Now that the groomer has basically shaved his back my partner is worried that it won't grow back to the way it was.

Can someone please advise me whether we are worrying about nothing and that over time the hair will grow back as normal.

I can provide before and after pictures to show you what I mean if required.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Please be reassured, we did much the same thing with our Lilly and it is OK.

After shearing grooming, we decided we didn't like the look so we went to a grooming seminar that was advertised on here, and now do her ourselves!! She is our first Cocker and we have never cut/groomed a dog before, only ever brushed.

Lilly now May 09 only four months later!!!

Thanks a lot for that. I still think she took far too much off but it's good to know that it will grow back (eventually!!!).

Once I've figured out how to upload the pictures I'll stick some on.

Thanks again for your help.
