The Great Escape!

Well, Ruffy is almost 19 weeks, and I have to say he's a smashing wee man.

Now I'm thinking, when is the right time to give him free reign when I'm out?

He does play well with Vahri, but things still get quite rough, and I sometimes have to calm things down a bit.

I suppose over the next few weeks he'll be losing his baby teeth and getting his big gnashers as well.

What do you think - suck it and see, or leave it a few more weeks yet? Jx

We are currently beginning the 'off the lead' adventures; but I have to admit to not being very brave yet!

I started by letting him off on the beach, with cliffs on 2 side and the sea on a third, so he couldn't disappear on me. He was great and we still do this regularly.

I do venture to let him off on two of our other 'walks' where there are large open spaces, with yards for him to go before he could vanish from my view   . He always gets put back on the lead if another dog is in sight, and I regularly recall him and reward him before letting him run again; if he takes too long, then I still fuss and reward him, but then chicken out and leash him again!

Oh he's great off the lead - and responsed well to his name. What I meant was - should I let him have free reign of the house when he and Vahri are in by themselves. Sorry - I wasn't very clear there.
