« on: February 13, 2012, 10:24:32 AM »
Well I wrenched off 1 wing (before cooking)
from
the chicken I was cooking yesterday
and gave it to Ellie who enjoyed it
very much and ate it all up nicely :D
Thanks CoL for giving me the
courage....

I gave Alice and Louis their first chicken wing yesterday and shared your sense of apprehension Steff  :o :o

Alice has recently had to have a lump removed from her side and whilst under the GA I asked the vet to clean her teeth so am very keen to do anything possible to keep them bright and pearly white.  She immediately crunched her way systematically through her portion - very loudly - with no adverse effects, thank heavens (I gave them to the dogs mid-morning, reckoning that if it all went terribly wrong at least a trip to the vet during the day would be less traumatic than an out-of-hours consult  :005:  )

On the other hand/paw, Louis had no idea whatsoever that this thing he had been presented with was even edible  :lol2:  - he proceeded to carry it everywhere with him like some sort of pet, occasionally trying to tear the very slippery flesh/skin - but failing miserably.  In the end I held it for him whilst he munched his way through it.

I am going to introduce this very gently .... - but like Steff, thanks CoL for giving me the confidence to give it a go .....

I have to do this everytime for Charlie. I normally pull pieces of meat off for him, then he sorta gets the idea but it takes him a good while to actually get the hang of it.

Stupid question...can the raw bones be eaten?
My beautiful little boy Charlie :)

Brill thanks. I'll try Charlie with one (when I get one) in hopes that he doesn't like them so I can finish the packet (cooked of course - wings are my favourite).  :021:

Bonnies puppies (7 weeks) had their first taste last night. Bonnies took her chicken wing, her favourite food I might add, out of her bowl, jumped into the box with the puppies and gave it to them. What a star mum she is. :luv: They sort of pulled it about a bit, being bichons they are a tad small just now, and she finished it off when they got fed up. :005:

I'm going to give this a try and see how my 2 get on with a chicken wing, is it just a normal raw chicken wing like the ones you get in the freezer section for bbq's (but without any sauce).  Are they supposed to eat the whole thing, bones and everything?  I still feed them royal canine so they will have that for their evening meal.

cocker spaniels make everything ok
