8-9 week feeding amounts
« on: May 10, 2012, 01:05:17 PM »
Just a quick query how much in grams roughly should i be feeding the pup i know it varies with type. hes just switching from wagg to skinners. the wagg is confusing as its in final adult weight (obviosuly i dont know) & skinners is in current weight which is much easier to calculate. dont want to under or over feed.

Any ideas to rough amount?

I just looked at final adult weight as a breed standard for an idea (I think I used about 12kg 'standard' weight) but he couldn't eat as much as was recommended anyway.
My beautiful little boy Charlie :)

ive calculated of the wagg pack & its reckoning about 100g x 3 a day which seems a lot for such a little thing there brackets 10-20kg so would assume 100g is for 20kg dog which he wont be unless hes very overweight. im guessing around 70-80g? i think he would eat a whole sack if i let him  :005:

I think the amount to give as suggested by the guidelines on most packaging, the range varies so much. Willow is a female working cocker and she weighs 11.5kg (ideal weight as suggested by my vet only the other day) so your little one being male might weight slightly more fully grown depending on his frame, obviously this is only a guide.

We fed Willow 4 small meals of between 25g and 30g of kibble.

Each brand of food will have its own guidelines....Tilly who is 7 months and weighs 10kg is on 200g daily of Arden Grange Puppy. She has only put on 0.1kg in past month. Will be back at vets in 2 weeks for a check up and weigh in. At the moment she is neither too thin or too fat.
