What colour is my cocker going to be?
« on: July 12, 2020, 09:16:05 AM »
Going to be a first time cocker spaniel Mum in 5 weeks and I’m so excited. :luv:

Our breeder has told us our puppy is a blue roan but is possibly developing tan points. I was wondering if by these photos of our pup at 2 weeks if anyone could confirm that suspicion. Also if in fact pup is blue roan or black and white? Any help appreciated! (All colours are beautiful im just being eaten alive by curiosity :005:)

Lovely puppy :luv: :luv: I doubt if he/she is black and white as their noses have pink in them for quite some time. My Hugo still had quite a bit of pink on his nose when he joined us at 8 weeks of age before it all turned black. I can't see enough definition to comment on the "and tan" Enjoy him/her when the time comes, it's the most exciting time  :luv:

I think it is too hard for me to tell in one so young, I'm sure you will love  him/her however they turn out.

What a lovely puppy! The roaning definitely appears as the pup gets older. My blue roan looked black and white when she was born. Her solid black patches were there from birth and the the roaning started to appear quite quickly. She definitely looked like a blue roan by eight weeks.
If the pup is a black and white some of his/her pads will stay pink. What are the parents and do you know which colours they produce? The puppy will be gorgeous whatever the colour!

Thanks everyone for your feedback!  :luv:

She is definitely looking spottier as time goes on (I added a 4week photo to original post). I am already crazy about her. Only 13 days to go!!! Not that I’m counting or anything.... :005:

Good luck with your new baby. She definitely seems to be blue roan in the 4 week picture. Gorgeous. I am 5 weeks away from getting my orange roan girl and honestly have never checked my calendar so much! Lots of videos and photos from the breeder do help. Enjoy

Looks blue roan to me with all the ticking - mine looked similar at an early age
