I don't get the (NEW) icon when I post or reply on COL

I am not brilliant on computers.

Do you mean to your own posts? You won't, your new post or reply will only show as 'new' on someone else's computer, to let them know someone apart from themselves have posted. If interested in a topic, they will  open the subject to see who has posted lately.
