Site Compromised
« on: August 27, 2013, 03:20:32 PM »
Dear all

As many of you are aware our site came under attack on the evening of Saturday the 24th August, as a result the main website (not the forum) was hacked and some pages replaced with various propaganda messages from overseas causes.
We are currently working hard to rebuild the main site, we did lose some of our data unfortunately but are hopeful that most of it can be restored and in a more secure format.

This post is really just to thank all the donators, over the years your donations have enabled COL to host our site on generally very reliable servers that includes some advanced intrusion detection systems, without your valued donations we'd never be able to afford such fancy gadgets. These systems kicked in very quickly on Saturday, obviously there is a short delay before any such system "realises" what's going on giving the hackers some limited time and access to do their thing, but without this platform and security things would have been MUCH MUCH worse, so thank you donators, your hard earned cash really does go a long way.

Big thanks also to the moderation and admin team who helped that night and the days following in keeping my sanity levels out of the red zone  :D

Hi, I would love to donate, now that finances are on a more even keel - specially if it keeps our wonderful site safe, but don't have a paypal account (nor do I want one) and I believe you need one of these in order to donate....unless someone knows different

I bet the hackers found it easier to hack the site than I am trying to find the donate button

It's on the home page but I think that is still being restored after the hacking so that's why you can't see it at the moment ;)

or you can pay directly to paypal as per this thread http://www.cockersonline.co.uk/discuss/index.php?topic=105793.0

I need to donate too. This site has been a wealth of information and fun. Especially helpful when Henry Hooligan was a wee pup, and I was at my wits end!  :005:

I do have PayPal, so will give it a try....
