I am a newbie to the site and have posted about Dexter and his mouthing. Still a bit of a problem but we are being very strict and he is slowly responding.
I am disabled and do from time to time have the odd tumble, this hurts my pride as well as sometimes my body. As an experiment last night I lay down on the floor and pretended to be out cold. Dexter surprised us all by his response. First he started nudging me with his nose, when I did not respond he crouched back and barked, then run to the door and barked until I sat up. This is all from a 15 week old puppy who has proved that he will be such a valuable aid to my situation.
We did not get him with this in mind, but what a fantastic surprise to find such a clever dog who after 5 weeks with us has shown total devotion. I know he is a clever boy as he already sits and lays to command, he will offer his paw and retrieve a ball most of the time.
So pleased we opted for the Cocker Spaniel and not another breed, such a rewarding experience every day and my life would not be the same without him already.
