We haven't used the crate since Dylan was a pup, apart from the one in The car in which he travels. He is very seldom left as we are retired,  it if needs be we put his bed in the kitchen and he has the kitchen, hall and dining room while we are out, but he doesn't like it one bit! He wants to be with us all the time, only occasionally he will sleep in the hall outside the lounge if he wants a bit of peace and quiet, otherwise he is our shadow, flattering really  :luv:

When I first got Marley he was crated in the kitchen when I went out or was in bed then I let him have access to the kitchen for a few months now he has access to the kitchen at night and when out he can also go in the living room. He's not allowed upstairs or in my bedroom though. He doesn't chew furniture and he's pretty quiet so I now trust him.
