As I'm fairly chummy with my vet I'd intended to take Domino to show him a couple of days after I got him; as it happened he came round to see us so I was able to show him then.

As the others have said I would try & get the pup to the vet a.s.a.p. after getting him.

We brought Daisy home on the Sunday, and I took her to the vets on Monday afternoon for her first vaccination.  She was fine.

thanks everyone for the advice... think I will take him in on the Monday..... I won't ring up and ask when, I will ring up and say the Monday...... be a little more in command............... I sometimes think its the receptionists that just want to get you off the phone and go away, the vets themselves may be very different.
So yes I will get him on the Sat and take him to the vets Monday!
I went to see him again yesterday :D and going again next week.... the breeder seems fine about me popping in every week. he has grown... beautiful ears and colour is changing from week to week.
cant wait

We took our new arrival to the vets the day we collected him for a brief check up , but were advised to wait a week for second vaccinations to give him a chance to settle in,all fine now, apart from anything chewable in the house !

I took my first cocker within a couple of days of collecting him. Am going to be doing the same again soon as we have a little black girl coming to live with us shortly - collect her on sat 9th and will be going to vets on the monday morning. We are all soooooo excited - no sleep for me the night before we collect her!!

I collected Sally from the breeder on Saturday last, shes had a temp vaccination, I rang the vet and she's booked in for her 2nd vaccination when she's 10 weeks old then her final one two weeks after that.

Also advised to give her a worming tablet once a month until she's six months old

How much do the vaccinations cost? health check? and then microchipping?
He is booked in for next monday, just want to be prepared for the shock of it all.  Just trying to sort out insurance too, thats alot more than expected per month.... Wow costly business but worth it eh  :D

I think some vets do chipping quite cheap to get you in the door to use their services.

I think you've just missed a promotion drive for the summer when chipping was £5 in some places.  We still went to our vet and paid full price cos we know he'll do a good job and that's worth knowing for piece of mind i think ;)
Look forward to hearing from you!
