Roger Mugford strikes again with his Blo**y Cocker Rage theory. All black and red cockers are nut jobs. The article is in response to It's me or the dog when Benjy was pts. This piece will do our wonderful breed no good at all. Please read it .

I have just read this article. Talk about a sweeping generalisation, I think it is extremely irresponsible for a so called expert to say these things. I have a blue roan so I`m not being over sensitive but it is most unfair to label all black and red cockers as having rage syndrome.

Most unfair I think, as i know plenty of these dogs who have a lovely, sweet nature as well as coming across parti colour cockers who have agression.

Let`s get real dogs of ALL breeds are capable of being agressive and vicious and speak to anybody who works in dog rescue centres will back this up. Last month it was rotties know it`s the turn of the poor cocker. It`ll probably be springers next month.

I know we are biased here on col but it irrates me to have our lovely breed slagged off.

I've just read it too, it is well known that R. Mugford has never had any regard for cocker spaniels.

Sad thing is some will take their perfectly normal but maybe norty dogs to be pts now as this sort of thing puts the fear into them. How many think their puppies are aggressive so no doubt they're going to be nasty dogs. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh

I do have to add though that this is why we on here should not breed bash either --- as who will they be out to get next

If this sort of article made people think about where they buy their dogs from and do their research into the breed as to whether they suit their lifestyles etc then it would be good but even if this message is in there somewhere I expect it will be lost among the one-liners of bashing cockers. I have no problem if people are put off buying cockers for this reason but I do if those that have them now get rid or unscrupulous breeders use this to swamp everyone with particlours that could equally have dubious backgrounds.

Trouble is some people who should know better will agree with him as well.
