I've got an estate and when we bought it I had the dog guard put in as an extra ;)

So in answer to your question if both dogs travelling they have the whole boot space to themselves, however if it is just Fern we  put the small crate in the car (still in the boot) which leaves us room to put other bits without a chewy pup getting at them  ;)

When we went on holiday we invested in a roof top box as figured no longer would we have space in the boot.

Ooh, good idea. Nice and cosy with a blanket and no dog hair inside the car. I like that idea! :005:

Excellent idea!  And if you cut a hole in the top of it your dogs can stick their head out and get the breeze in their ears!  :D

Coco travels in the boot/back with a dog grille - I usually clip her lead to a hook inside it too in case the boot should pop open for any reason!  ;)  She also has a harness which clips into the seat belt but I hardly use that now - much more practical to have her in the back and she loves it and can look out of the window as we go along  ;)

I use a ferplast atlas 100. It fits my peugeot 307 perfectly, but you can get smaller or bigger ones. I bought the extra divider so I can put the pup in one half and wellies etc in the other. If I have both the lab and the cocker in the carrier I remove the divide. Plenty of room for them both. It was £52 from surrey pet supplies, much cheaper than the smaller version which was £80 in PAH

...would two full size cockers fit into that size do you think ?

Easily!!!! I have had 2 full size labs in it. They have handy drawers in the top too

they are too heavy this year, we'd never lift them up there!! ph34r

I thought perhaps we'd put the clothes up there instead!!!

Not for chewy pups though.

we also have this crate for barkers to travel in. he started out as a pup in a small metal crate on the backseat of our ford fiesta. we then upgraded to a focus estate in july and this crate fits perfectly in the back, only taking up half the space. :)

Because of our huge dogs we have a transit van... Well you can't fit them in anything else comfortably!! So if hubby is driving, and I am the only passenger, Tia has her harness on and sits in the seat next to me, which she loves. If anyone else is in the van though she has to go in her 30" crate in one of the Newf cages in the back :D

Mine travel in the back of our Zafira, with a dog guard, and tailgate.  For work, I use a soft crate within that space,to separate two dogs. I did have one of those Ferplast  crates (for work) but tbh thought it was v poor quality, so I sold it on Ebay.  :D

Snoopy travels in a crate for when we are on the mainland travel.  However on the Island he travels in the front passenger seat with a seatbealt and when with OH and me he sits in the back of the clean car on his bed with his seatbelt on.  When we get the new car in March he will have dog guard in boot and he will travel in the boot.
