Storing dry kibble
« on: July 04, 2008, 07:32:18 PM »
Ok we know that air kills off nutrients in dry kibble, so everytime we open it up more are being killed, so what "IS" the best wat to store it as I have 5 different bags on the go at the moment  :D

Oh I didn't know that! I use kibble as training treats for Charlie a bag lasts for ages. I put it in a tupperware type container, only so it's easier to pour into his coachie bag.

Oh dear :-\
I put ours into a new flip top kitchen bin and keep it under the stairs (not air tight thou) . What about the big brewing buckets you can get for making beer? Would a new refuse bin be airtight enough?

I have a plastic bin with a click on lid, also I give Hill's and it comes in plastic bag that you can re seal and squeeze all the air out so it stays fresh.

I fill a big tupperware tub once a week out of the bag which is then rolled back up to keep airtight(ish)

I have a big tupperware tub that stores a 2kg bag of James wellbeloved, that sits in the dog cupboard.  I have a similar smaller one for dog biscuits!!

I've obviously failed as a Cocker mum again! I tip William's JWB kibble out of the bag into a plastic bin. It has a lid but it's definitely not airtight. As I buy a large bag of kibble that lasts ages it probably has no nutrients in it at all by the end!

I do the same as some of the others.  Daily use is in a cereal pourer tupperware and the massive bag is emptied out into a swing bin (def not airtight)  ph34r.  I buy the big 15kg bags so only thing I could think of.

So I have failed as a cocker mummy too!

So what is the solution???
