I think friends of my daughter paid that for their Boston Terrier, didn't stop it falling and breaking a leg before it was 3 months old though, plus they were just buying a pet - cute but that much  :-\ don't think so!

I bought Fred just as a pet and paid £650... but then a major shopping spree for 'stuff' (toys, crate etc as he was my 1st dog) probably meant he cost me close to £1000 anyway..... :005:

I'd pay £1000 for another dog if he/she was as wonderful as Fred  :luv: but maybe i'm soft....

I can see that amount being the norm soon as prices of everything go up! Such a lot of money tho!

I have seen puppies being sold at £1400 +  :o

Not Cockers, Sarah? You kind of expect it in toy breeds (where they only have one or two in a litter) or Bulldogs maybe but not Cockers .....

Yes - they was Cockers Jane.

I don't think £1K is a lot of money for an animal that you hope to spend 13 plus years with and become part of your family... but I wouldn't pay it (and couldn't anyway  :lol2:) I would be wary of a cocker pup that cost that much to be honest and question the breeders motives for breeding it too.....

Lets hope this price tag doesn't catch on as loving pet owners would be unable to purchase >:( I think the average for a pup from a good breeder is around £600. When i was looking at purchasing a dog and looking at certain breeds minature labradoodles are around £900 :o cute but not that cute

I don't think it is a bad thing if reputably-bred puppies cost this much; it doesn't actually take long to save up the cost if you put to one side the money you will pay for the insurance/food etc every month...and if you can't afford to do this, then you can't really afford to keep a dog  ph34r

What would worry me is when a litter is priced much higher, or much lower, than the usual for the breed; so for cockers, £1000 is quite a lot, but for a bulldogs and similar flat-faced breeds (which have far more expensive medical screening and veterinary intervention during whelping) then over £1000 is usual  :-\

From what I can gather, it's not whole litters of Cockers that are suddenly being priced at £1000 and above - it's particular colours that seem to have a premium attached to them. Since every puppy will cost the same to rear, the only motive I can see for charging a lot more for some colours than others is to cash in on people's desire for something "different" or "rare" :-\

Which is exactly what happened, the dog in question was a Sable and cost £1600 eeeeekkkkkk as much as I think the dog is gorgeous I wouldn't and couldn't spend that much  :luv:
