William, dressed as Santa, and Ruby Retriever, dressed as a reindeer, won the Fancy Dress competition at our Dog Training Christmas party yesterday, beating about 20 other entries.
Maria (Rubydoo on COL) and I made a sleigh from a cardboard box, painted it red and added gold painted runners. We decorated it with gold tinsel and snowflakes, wrapped up a few empty boxes as presents and put some Christmassy cuddly toys in it.
William sat in the sleigh and behaved impeccably
, sitting there for about 5 minutes looking regal without fidgeting or getting out. Ruby stood in front of it, with red ribbon reins attached to the sleigh. She was a bit fidgety but didn't sit or lay down
, which we thought she might.
Our prize was a musical set of three white reindeer. Two of them sing "I'm Dreaming Of A White Christmas" and their noses light up. The third one vibrates occasionally and his bells ring as well as his nose lighting up

Both Wills and Ruby were eliminated early on in musical mats and the sausage eating race. Poor Ruby had a bit of a hangover today, caused by too many sausages, but she's recovered now.
The club has a link to Many Tears, which I didn't know until yesterday. A club member called Mitch has about 5 rescue Collies that came via Many Tears and the club supports Many Tears.
