Agility questions
« on: May 02, 2011, 09:10:04 AM »
I open this thread as we are new in agility which we love :luv: so is my country (Greece)  :005: & there might be questions arising!

I have read FCI's rules on the groups of agility...small, medium, large...
I understand Scarlett with 37cm (14.5 inches) is competing in the "medium" group....But I have seen some English Cockers in youtube competing in the small group....Can you please advise if someone can change category? Are these small cockers or what?

Misha competes in the small category as she is only 33cm (13") at the shoulder and yes she is a small cocker.

Roly competes in the large category as he is 43cm (17")

The category you compete in is totally dictated by the height of your dog.

In the Uk although not governed by FCI rules (english kc will not accept the pedigree only rule!) we have the same height categories and we do have a fair few small spaniels at 35cm just and under.

I have 2 in small and 2 measured medium but they are split accross the height categories with as mentioned previously a few in large also!

There are probably more in medium than any other height but it all comes down to that height at the withers!

Rosie & 4 naughty cockers plus one!

I also have 2 little ones, Paisley is only 12" at the withers and Isla just scraped into small and has to be measured again so I'm hoping she gets to stay in small!  Merfyn is a little taller (not by much) so I'm guessing he will be in medium, but I'm happy that he will be capable of jumping that height.....I don't think the Isla would manage it, not for a whole course anyway!
