« on: October 18, 2011, 05:15:50 PM »
Ok, so gave POlly her first worming tablet (from me, unsure at breeders) this morning and she went all quiet and off her food, let her sleep a couple of hours and took her out in garden, major squits and huge worm in it... yuk!!
well thats a new one...

Called the vet, apparently normal!

Are they always that big???

Just went out and she did another one, this one was half the size (8cm) but still wriggling...

I asked the vet the same thing a few weeks ago! Ours were definitely roundworms and he only ever passed one, still wriggling, but after his op we can be very sure that it was on the only one he had!

It is gross though, I made the hubby pick it up.  :005:

LOL, the commonest worms are tapeworms and roundworms (especially in puppies).  They're both disgusting.  I was just going to go and have my tea but think I'll hang on a bit - keep thinking of wriggling worms now UGGGGGGGG  :005:

They can have quite an infestation apparently.  If they had lots and were not de-wormed, they would quickly go out of condition.

The most important thing (especially with children) is to make sure the puppy doesn't lick their faces and make sure the kids wash their hands thoroughly and regularly.

It's never a good idea to let a puppy lick your face, but at least she has been wormed now.  Didn't the breeder give her anything.  She should have been wormed at 2 weeks, 4 weeks and 6 weeks.
