I'm sorry that Sandy is so unsettled, it must make it even harder for you to come to terms with your loss :'(

I haven't really got any experience of one dog grieving for another, but perhaps doing a few different things to change Sandy's routine might get her attention. Does she like chews or a filled Kong? Could you take her to a few different places for walks?

I hope she settles soon :luv:

Awww Amy, how I sympathise with you :luv: when I lost my darling Poppy it was hard enough for us, and at first Pebbles seemed ok.
But and this is a big but, as the weeks went on we noticed a change in her  :luv: she didn't want to go out for a walk any more, she was very lethargic, wouldn't eat, the list was endless :'( I took her to the vet thinking it was a medical problem, so after a good going over with Chris our vet, he said she is grieving for Poppy :'(. Nothing we did seemed to help her, we were at our wits end :'(. There is no easy solution to this Amy just give her time to adjust. Remember her bestest friend has suddenly been taken away from her and she doesn't know why? :'( and worst of all we can't tell them why.
I do hope she recovers from her loss soon Hun big  :bigarmhug:'s to you and you little baby x x x

When we lost our Belle ESS 2 years ago at first Charlie was fine kinda thinking she was just at the vets.  Ater 2 weeks went bye he kinda realised that this time she wasnt coming back.  He didnt go off his food but was really down and quiet for a few weeks.  We upped the cuddles etc and gradually he adjusted to her not being with us any more.  My friiend lost one of her dogs last weekend and her remaining dog has gone off her food and is very quiet.  They do greave it just takes time for them to settle again.

Bless you! It must be hard on you and
although we had a nearly opposite
reaction in the same circumstances
with the last 2 dogs we had(siblings)
I do sympathise :016:
Do you have any nice doggy friends
that she could maybe do extra
socialising with?
I'm sorry this isn't much help;I
hope you can find an answer
for Sandy :luv:

Poor baby, she is pining for her lost friend.  :luv:  They have feelings, just like us.  You need to try and take her mind off it as best you can.  As someone said, a different place for walks and maybe a good play with another friend.  She needs time to adjust and overcome her grief.   :bigarmhug: to her and you.

Freya was the same when we lost Lily.  She was an absolute nightmare, roaming around the house, scatching to try to oncover things...............really sad for all of us.

I did, or did not do the right thing.............we went and got another dog (in fact 2).

They are all as happy as Larry now.  :luv: :luv:

Hope everything goes ok for you, it is one of the worst times..............I know that.  Sending you lots of hugs. xxx
No longer in my arms, but forever in my heart, my girls at the Bridge, Lily and Freya. Xx

When I had to rehome Katie, Smudge went through much the same as Sandy is now. He was very confused poor little chap - but he did not really lose his appetite.

I found the best thing was to keep him busy and take him on different walks etc., and give more cuddles than usual, but did keep up the usual discipline (no thieving, jumping up etc.) - now a month or so on he is much better -so I hope this gives you some hope.

One thing I did do was make sure that I went out without him occassionally (not for long at first) so it would not be such a shock to the system for him when i extended the periods he was on his own.

 :bigarmhug: :bigarmhug: for you both.

sandy will get through this somehow but i just hope she gets through it at her own stage been spoiling her too shes now got a winter coat and looks gorg in it but little monkey is camera shy!
