New to forum with new rescue cocker...

Hi im Carrie and i have just taken on an abused rescue...
She lived with a couple and the wife in that couple was beaten by her husband...unfortunately so was this dog She is around a year old and we have decided to rename her incase she has a bad association with her old name. Shes got burns on her face that looks like cigarrette burns. Shes very frightened but seems to want to be friends. She wagging her tail lots but is very jumpy. Shes gorgeous and i think once she trusts us she will be a very sweet dog. Oh and we are calling her Phoebe!!

Welcome Carrie.  Thank goodness Phoebe found you!  some people seriously need a long prison sentence for things they do to dogs and humans.

There is a couple who rescued a puppy staffie with fag burns on her, and she's turned turned out to be a great dog, very friendly, and has overcome her shyness.  She runs up to strangers now to say hello, so Phoebe will get there.

Poor little Phoebe, thank god she found you, she sounds a little darling, already trying to wag her tail, after all she has been through.   

Dogs willingness to forgive and forget never ceases to amaze me.

I'm sure it won't take long for her to settle with you, well done on doing a fantastic thing.  I hope the man that did this to her will one day get his just desserts.

I think shes amazing!!! I cant believe that she already has a little bit of trust in us even though someone treated her so badly. I think the lady owner must have been nice to her because she has certainly known love from someone. The poor woman was being beaten up herself and i guess him hurting her dog was another way for him to hurt her....
I wanted to cry when i saw her burns on her face...they are still really bad even though shes been back at her breeders for about 3wks. Shes been shaved so has quite a "funky" haircut atm!!!! I love her to pieces already!!! She will be spoilt here!!! Shes just going to sleep on the sofa next to me now...
