Planning our puppy
« on: August 07, 2009, 08:46:00 PM »
Hello all,
Coming from a family who owned cocker spaniels, we have been waiting for our
youngest to turn 4 before buying a puppy of our own.
We have been dog sitting for friends and family to see how the children reacted and
am happy to say all went well.
We live 5 minutes from the beach at Mudeford (near Christchurch) in Dorset.
We are starting to look for a breeder, so any advice/recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
The Vines Family.

My parents had show, so that's what we're used to.
We're not fussed about colour, but would prefer a boy.
My parents got theirs from a breeder in Matchams/Hurn in Christchurch
but can't find her listed anymore - it was a few years ago now!

Hello and welcome! Like you I was brought up with cockers and they're the only breed of dog I've ever owned. I currently (and at this moment quite literally!) share my sofa with Morgan who is an orange roan show type. He's almost 14 months old and simply full of energy  :shades: Hope you find your puppy soon!

Hello and welcome to COL  :D

I have a 5 year old orange roan show type Cocker, William, and tomorrow will be collecting little Louis, 8 weeks old and another show type. I'm very excited about tomorrow and also a bit anxious, but that's just me!

I live on the eastern edge of the New Forest and sometimes drive down to Mudeford Quay with William and take the little ferry to do a walk along the beach towards Hengistbury Head. It's one of our favourite walks.

There's loads of COLers in Hampshire and Dorset, I think apart from the Scottish COLers we're probably the biggest group, and I expect lots of them will be posting a hello to you over the weekend.

Hope you enjoy COL, it can be addictive.

Hi Vine family and welcome to COL.

I am Jenny and I have a 2 1/2 year old working cocker spaniel called Harley.

We are based on the outskirts of London, but have a holiday home in New Milton, so not far from you.

We often walk along the beach from Steamer point towards Highcliffe castle, as dogs are allowed on this side of the beach, but not toward Mudeford Quay itself, except on the prom on lead, during the summer months.

Hope you find you pupster soon.

Jenny & Harley

We are really excited, have located a puppy in Dorset and have reserved a Blue Roan boy!
He is only a few days old - viewing at the end of August - we can't wait!
Our planning and patience in locating a pup close by have paid off - and this little one just happened at
the right time.  I guess it was meant to be -fingers crossed until end of August. :D :luv: :D
