Thank you all soooo much
I feel a bit bad coming here after being away soo long but - I know everyone on here understands how I feel.
To answer the Q of what happened:
I came home from work tuesday - something told me Brogan wasn't quite right - acting a little out of character despite being happy and waggy to see me. He then vomited and sat with his head down. 6th instinct I suppose made me take him to the vets. The only thing they found was some gas on an xray. I asked if it could be a blockage but vets reckoned no and queried gastroenteritis. They kept him in for observations as I was working an early shift the next day and wouldn't be at home to monitor him. They also wanted him on a drip. Following day the vets phoned me at work and asked permission to open him up to explore by now a large gas build up. He had an obstruction in his intestines. They found something black in his intestines that looked a bit like the centre of sweetcorn. I don't know where he got it from or what it was
He died a few hours following his operation
Brogan was a scrounger by nature. I'm sure Gill on here remembers when he found the bird on the beach
He was so proud carrying that on the walk - keeping atleast 20 feet away so I couldn't get it off him
Mind he didn't eat that - just carried it like a trophy. His tail nearly snapped it was held that high
Seal flipper that's another one that springs to mind
Bailey had the eaten the same thing as Brogan - whatever it was
Bailey started to vomit thursday - the day I got told Brogan had died. Fortunately he managed to vomit his up. I got him xrayed just in case - it was an agonising wait!!! Especially as Brogan was lying in the next room dead. He also had gas build up but no where near the extent of Brogan. Thank heavens Bailey was ok!! Bailey and I got to see Brogan while we were at the vets - to say the goodbye we hadn't managed on tuesday.
Bailey is coping well without his sidekick - surprisingly well in fact. Better than me that's for sure
I know time will heal
thanks again everyone xx
