Many Tears California - now 'Callie' update
« on: February 18, 2019, 11:39:46 AM »
One year ago this month we drove over 500 miles there and back to Many Tears, Wales to rescue this little Blue Roan Cocker whom Many Tears had called 'California'.  An ex-breeder from Ireland. Never known any love, never lived in a house, never been on a lead.  Poor little thing had a very sore/burnt red tummy where she had to lay in urine (prior to being rescued). She was supposed to be 2, though after seeing how she was and mouthing etc we think she was definitely younger.  We don't know how many litters she has had.  We knew she had been beaten/kicked as my OH accidentally trod on her foot and she ran away cowering from him and when he lifted an umbrella she cowered in fright and wet herself.  She had been eating dirt to supplement what little food she had which she still does now.  She has really funny ways and she is such a little character.  She initially didn't know how to play but loves playing with her 'Hippo' now. She now does zoomies and has perfected the cocker 'woo-wooing'.  Her coat has thickened and is lovely.  She's such a happy little girl, adores love and affection, being groomed and most of all - a tummy tickle. She's now at the correct weight. Still a bit wary of men initially but such a very loving affectionate girl who just wants to be picked up and held. It's been hard work and still ongoing - she still has wee accidents inside the house.

MT California now called Callie - where has that year flown?

Oh this is just wonderful to read, Callie looks so happy and has her forever home, we can't imagine what the darlings go through, Ollie is 11 years young and master of us all, he was 7 mths when he came to us as a rescue and still has issues around men and yellow hi vis jackets which really freak him out.
I am sure every mile you went has been rewarded by the love you share,
Cocker kisses and cuddles just make my day!

You are always with me darlings Jaypup and my precious Oliver you are so missed

Oh my goodness! What a difference, she‘s so beautiful!!  :luv:
I have so much admiration for those of you who take on these poor little souls, it takes so much dedication and patience.  I‘m sure, the rehabilitation must take over your lives and can really only succeed if the whole household is onboard.
Congratulations to you for doing a fantastic job and well done to little Callie who was clever enough to choose you a her forever family!
Hope you have very many happy years together!!  :luv:

Callie is beautiful, but most of all she is loved and happy  :luv:  To see her and Mollie tucked into their beds is just adorable.  What a difference that year has made.  Callie's life has changed forever, and you have done an amazing job with her.   :luv:
