Is Mitch a pedigree?
« on: March 18, 2004, 12:36:32 PM »
Hello,

I have recently rescued 6 month old Mitch who is settling in very well.
The rescue center only had the vacination history but advised they
thought he was pedigree. Over the weeks we have been stopped
and various comments have been made on what he actually is.
Some say there maybe a bit of Bassett or Beagle in him because
of his large jaw. Also he seems a little larger the your average cocker.

He's a great dog whatever and was just wondering if anyone
might have a better idea. I've put a photo in the new rogues gallery.

Thanks

Bob

Hi Bob

Welcome to COL

Judging by the photo of Mitch in the New Rogues Gallery  http://www.cockersonline.co.uk/photo/New-R...Rogues/Img_0246 I would say that he looks to be all Cocker - I can't see anything that resembles a Basset or Beagle

Yep, no expert but he looks all cocker to me :D lovely colour, maybe people question his breeding because you don't see Black and Whites that often?

People often stop and ask me what my two are, and they are definitely cockers. I just think some aren't really that well up on their breeds.

Hi Bob,

Mitch is absolutely gorgeous.

I too rescued a Cocker six weeks ago at 17 weeks old. He is a tri coloured, and people are forever asking me if he is a Basset hound.

He looks like a very similar shape to Mitch, and as he isnt very hairy he looks like a completely different dog to my other cocker Beano.

Mitch he's lovely and gets my vote as 100% cockers  :D  gorgeous colour to...maybe thats why people are confused as its more of a minority colour in cockers  :)

Looks all cocker to me too  :D
My cocker is a rescue too, I got him at 6 months, and occasionally people have asked about him, I just think with rescues perhaps they don't have the "good breeding" that dogs from reputable breeders have so they may not fit the breed standard as much. My cocker is also bigger than average and has shorter ears etc, but I've seen his pedigree so I know he is purebred.
