« on: September 18, 2009, 09:48:05 PM »
Hi all,

I was just wondering if you all clip your pooches in the colder months or do you let them get hairy??? :lol2:

Thanks :D

I still clip if they need it, but not as short, Usually just use a 5F blade.

I clip the same very short cut in winter and summer. In winter it keeps them cleaner and they don't take hours to dry (but they do get coats or fleeces to keep warm) and in the summer they don't get too hot.

Tilly gets her usual clip in the winter, she's out on shoots and the shorter her coat and more thinned out her feathering the less undergrowth she brings back with her and fewer matts she gets on her legs and belly. I just use her Equafleece to keep her warm in between drives and in the car on the way back from walks and she has a towelling dressing gown to wear when she gets home if she's still wet.

Ollie has a short back, but we keep the skirt and feathers. This is his first winter where he's been clipped, so we don't know if he'll need a coat yet.
