Think it's a dreaded grass seed....
« on: June 18, 2011, 03:49:06 PM »
was checking Jarv's paws last night and found in one back paw 2 grass seeds and in the other back paw in the webbing  between his toes a really nasty cyst....the good thing is that it doesn't seem to be bothering him and he's not licking or chewing it.  This afternoon it's pretty red and inflamed but again he's not bothered by it.

The bad thing is I'm pretty sure it's a grass seed  >:(

so, as it's not bothering him he's on silica and I'm soaking his paw in epsom salts in an effort to draw out the seed.

Please cross everything that this will do the trick - otherwise I can see a very expensive vets visit on Monday  ph34r

Eek poor Jarv! That sounds sore....least he isn't being a typical fella and being dramatic about it :005: Fingers crossed for you :luv:

Hoping that the grass seed comes out. :luv:

I'm touching wood when I say this - but none of my Cockers have ever had a grass seed.

I hope it comes through  :-\ we had a very painful session once with the tweezers and a bit of gentle squeezing but at least the whole thing came out, fortunatly it was one without the furry spears so I hope it's the same for poor Jarv. The furry ones are a nightmare  :'(

I pulled two off Giz last weekend, one from her toes and one from insider her ear  >:( It's certainly the season.  >:D

Hope it does come out. Remember when Monty had a cyst between his toes, but the blumming grass seed had travelled up his leg.
A lump appeared further up his leg some weeks later.

Poor Jarvis really hope that you manage to get the think out without having to visit the vets.

We have had loads this year already and having to resort to full brushing every walk.

Where do you get silica from Helen? as I think I had better be prepared.

Paws crossed here for the grass seed to make an appearance without having to go to the vets (said that quietly so as not to worry Jarvis  :'( ) - but what a good boy for leaving it alone  :luv: :luv:
These grass seeds sound quite nasty & try to keep an eye out for the girls having a problem with one  :shades: ...in the foot is one thing but as for in the tear duct & travelling up their legs  :fear2: :020:

you should be able to get it from any chemist or any health shop.

Julie - I have everything crossed it doesn't do a Monty and does more of a Jool's Bramble!!  :-\

Oh no, hope the bloomin' thing comes out on it's own and Jarv doesn't have to visit the V.E.T.  :-\

I really hope it does come out with the help of the silica.

It is my nightmare,we got one out once between the toes, but the other time it was a trip to the vets as Ruby is a complete moo,and will not let us touch her feet when something is hurting there  >:(

Hope its not a grass seed and even if it is that it expels itself.      Blooming things are everywhere, its a real mammoth job at the moment clearing Quinn of everything after a walk as everything is sticking to him.

Touch wood, we've never had a grass seed here either, had to pull one of our Indie's ear once though that would have gone in had we not spotting it.

I hope Jarv's foot gets better soon  :bigarmhug:. I'd never even heard of grass seed before COL, now I look at every blade of grass with trepidation  ph34r
