new carpets
« on: April 12, 2015, 07:55:53 PM »
We are thinking of putting down new carpets on the stairs and landing which would be an expensive business. The current ones are old and manky, not least because Carlo wee'd on them quite a lot when he was a youngster. He is perfectly housetrained now ( he's 5) but I am nervous. I have heard that even well housetrained dogs very often wee on new carpets. is that true? Does anyone have any experience of that or advice?

I haven't had any problems with my 2 dogs weeing on our new stair and landing carpet, we have wooden floor everywhere else and Rolo does take advantage of the carpet to rub his nose and scratch his face though  :lol2:

We had new carpets throughout about nine months ago. Neither dog has had an accident on them. But, Bramble has been sick twice on them >:D I think if you get good quality ones they will clean up pretty well!

We've got Flotex on the stairs and both top and bottom landings. Brilliant stuff which shrugs off stains and dirt  ;)

Have Flotex in the kitchen and love it, didn't know it would work on stairs.

It sure does. The only difference from carpet is that each step is cut individually as it doesn't like the sharp bend at the back of each step but it's fine with the gradual bend on the nose of each step.

We had it fitted by a Flotex approved fitter and I'd certainly recommend that as he really knew what he was doing with it.

Our last lot of Flotex in the kitchen was down for 15+ years and, apart from normal cleaning, we lifted it every couple of years, took it out onto the patio and used a power washer on it ! !
