Rhodri has Addison’s Disease

Update on Rhodri - he’s been diagnosed with Addisons disease.

We’ve been back to the vet earlier and he’s had his first injection and starts on tablets tomorrow. He has to go back for a review in ten days.

I’m sad for him but to be honest I’m sort of relieved as my mind was in overdrive thinking the worse.

If anyone has any experience of dogs with this, I’d love to hear.

We just need to get the ear infection under control now!

I can understand you feel sad for him, but now you know what it is, it can be managed.  Not had personal experience, but I know of two dogs with it, and once things are stabalised, you won't know any different.  In my mind it is like a person with diabetes, get the meds sorted and monitor things.  It will take a wee while to get your head around it.

I‘m sorry to hear that, poor Rhodri,  I don’t know anything about Addisons unfortunately, I’ve just had to look it up but ejp‘s answer sounds reassuring so hopefully he’ll respond well to the treatment and start to feel better soon. All the best for Rhodri and lots of  to you both.

My friend's dog has Addison's and has done very well on the meds, apart from putting on weight. It is the opposite of Cushing's which my little one succumbed to last May; still miss her.
