Charlie had to have an op
« on: May 24, 2007, 09:12:51 PM »
All

been a stressfull time atm, little charlie (9 weeks old) has had to have 2 anasthetics and 1 operation, the little sod managed to swallow a stylus pen from a nintendo ds (about as thick as a biro inner and 4 inches long ish)

I saw it in his throat but could not get to it without the fear of pushing it and possibly causing some damage, so off to the vets we went (tues night at 6pm)
it had gone by the time they could look ( 5 mins wait inc journey) so they xrayed him .. could not see it as the spare one I took (lay it by him when they xray) would only show up faintly on the hotlight... then used a rigid scope, saw the end of it, but could not get it.

we was then refered to the local pet hospital, they used an endoscope to try and find it, but could not see it, so they ended up opening him up to try and find it as due to its shape, they where concerned that it had punctured the gut wall and was migrating somewhere

well .... 9 hours later at the hospital (thank god the chairs where semi comfortable) I was able to take him home, they did not find the stylus .. so god only knows whats happened to it (the house was double searched with a fine tooth comb before he was opened up)

I only hope its not still in there .....

time will tell .. he seems to be back to his usual mischevious self

OMG I am sorry to hear about Charlie's mischievious encounter with a nintendo stylus pen.  You will definately be more careful about what is about when Charlie is around - we had a similar incident.  Ours was with a pill pack of Ibuprofen.  So now, everything out of reach - although Daisy has chewed through a few biro pens - and all doors to all rooms are closed so there is no chance of her getting into any mischief whilst we aren't around.

I hope Charlie (and you) are recovering from your trauma.  Just keep an eye on his number twos :005:

Sorry to hear about poor wee Charlie.

Hope he's making a speedy recovery - although sounds like he already has!

Sending cocker hugs from Sam!
