do keep an eye out over the next few months-
just in case the silica has helped to reduce the inflammation but hasn't actually expelled it. I know nothing about how silica works in this way, so it could have done the trick.
BUT grass seeds
can and
do travel inwards through the tissues and can get into the bloodstream causing problems at another site later on. It happened to us with Jess, one of our springers and the vet was chasing it all over the place as it kept flaring up. He found it several inches away from the original entry site a few months later. You can imagine what her paw was like after that
