All was fine on Wednesday night. On Thursday, took the gang for their usual walk and soon after we came home, Buffy was sick. A lot of it was grass, so I assumed she had a bit of a tummy ache and would be fine later on. So we didn't give her any breakfast and she was sad and feeling sorry for herself.
By the evening, she was having little sips of water but had been sick a couple more times, so we didn't feed her.
Yesterday she was really low - not wagging her tail or bouncing around at all and only sipping water again. Last night we tried her on chicken - which she spat out!!!!
Took her to the vet this morning and she has gastro enteritis (which surprised me as I thought that came out from both ends!)
She has had an anti-inflammatory injection as he said her guts are very inflamed and sore. She has to have cool boiled water (although she prefers to sip out of the ordinary bowls when thirsty), has some tablets twice a day and is allowed boiled chicken tonight if she wants it.
If there is no improvement we have to phone back on Monday morning. He is not too concerned, as she is not at all dehydrated, but she has lost loads of weight (she is pretty slim anyway but now there is nothing of her)
She just wants to sleep and lie down all the time - has hardly wagged her tail at all, and doesn't care when I take the rest of the gang out or even feed them - she just lies there looking at me.
It is really sad, and I wish I could do more for her.
Just have to go and find some natural live yoghurt later as he said that should help balance her gut.
Don't know how to get a tablet down her though if she's not eating. Will try that trick later.
I hate seeing her like this and I am sure Harriet misses her cocker buddy on our walks.
