Spratts 76 comb
« on: May 27, 2015, 02:37:00 PM »
Due to problems with my hands and wrists someone recommended a Spratts #76 with a handle for my puppy.  However, I'm struggling to find one (all the websites I've looked at just have the wide backed one (no handle) that I already have).  One site has a Spratts 73B available...it has 23 teeth/inch instead of 22...does anyone know whether this is similar enough to strip her dead puppy coat?  Or does anyone know where I could get a #76 with handle from, please (or if there is another comb that would be suitable)?

All I used with Mollie was a wide tooth old plastic comb with an elastic band threaded through it.  The puppy fluff comes out very easily with this leaving a lovely smooth coat.

I've found this for you.
There is a 73 which is very similar to the 76 - 23 teeth to the inch compared with 22  ;)
I much prefer the combs with handles too. :D

Oh sorry, its the same one you mentioned
It does state that it is the classic spaniel comb and is a best seller.
I use it  and I find it good to get the dead coat out  :D
I also have a 71 (also a long handle) that I have threaded with an elastic band - I can't manage to thread a band through the 76 as it makes my eyes go strange  :005: but I know others have managed it   ;)  :o
This is excellent at getting the dead hair out  :D
Max (GSP)  always in my heart
