I think Dally Wally Doodlebug is coming down with something as he has been turning his nose up at food since yesterday - he hasn't had anything to eat since his breakfast yesterday :o Even when he has been ill in the past, he has always wanted his nosh :-\ He even refused a gravy bone earlier on :o He isn't drinking much, just standing at the water bowl looking at me so I checked his mouth but I can't see anything untoward. He's not bothered about his walks either and when he is out, he is walking perfectly to heel!! He has been lying in the bedroom since I came home from work 3 hours ago - its lovely having a nice, calm, whinge free Dallas but I'm getting quite worried now ;) I'm going to see how he is tomorrow and if he isn't much better, then I'm going to try and get him an appt for tomorrow evening. Vegas has an appt for Wednesday afternoon but I don't know if I want to leave Dallas that long if he is still not himself :-\
-
Thats a bit worrying. Hope hes feeling better soon.
-
Oh poor Dallas - feel better soon mate!! :luv: ;)
Max was like this the other day when he had a tummy bug - he only actually retched a couple of times & wasn't actually properly sick at all, but was off his food for well over 24 hours & was very mopey & sleepy & dis-interested in everything for a couple of days or so - he soon bounced back though, after much worrying on my part. Maybe Dallas has got a bit of a bug or something, poor chap.
-
Hope he gets better soon :luv: They are a real worry when they're off colour - Ben is also not himself today but will post separately.
Let us know how he gets on.
-
Poor Dallas :-\
Hope he is feeling better soon :luv: :-*
-
You miss all that bouncing when they are off-colour, don't you?
I do hope it's just that he's a bit out of sorts today, and that he'll back to normal tomorrow.
-
Aw, poor Dallas - gentle ((hugs)) :luv:
-
Aww poor little man :luv: is he feeling any better this morning Gill?
-
Hope Dally Wally is feeling a bit better this morning Gill  It's lovely when you have a nice calm dog and you relish it for the first few hours but if things don't improve you'd do anything to have them back to normal wouldn't you
If he's still not drinking then I would be off to the vets too ;)
-
Just checking in to see how Dallas is this morning Gill :-\ :luv:
-
We are just off to the vets now - will update later ;)
-
Good luck :D
-
Well, my poor boy either has a badly infected testicle or its a tumour :'( Its about 3 times the size of the other one and is brick hard. He got 3 lots of injections and 2 lots of tablets to take for 5 days and I have to take him back Monday. No wonder he has been so miserable :'(
-
Poor Dallas; I'm so sorry it wasn't better news at the vets,Gill.
Hopefully the injections & tablets will kick in & he'll start to feel better.
-
Oh no Gill I'm so sorry for you and for poor Dallas :o :'(
Hopefully it will just be an infection and it will clear up soon, try not to think the worst :-\
Lots of gentle cocker :-* and :luv: on the way from me and Alfie :luv:
-
Oh no, hopefully its just been a knock or something. Hope the medication sorts it out :'( Get well soon Dallas :-* :-*
-
Bet that's sore!
Try not to worry. I do hope it settles with the tablets.
-
Awww poor boy! try not to worry Gill, remember when Nell had that big lump on her throat. It was rock hard and enormous, it was realy scary, it turned out to be an infection, and started to go down in a few days with the medication.....Fingers crossed thats what it is with Dallas.
Hugs and big smackeroos for Dallas :-* :-*
-
Sorry to hear about Dallas Gill, poor lad, I hope the tablets work and its nothing too serious.
Sending him and you some cocker cuddles :luv:
-
Fingers crossed that the tablets do their stuff and that Dallas is more comfortable soon. Fern sends gentle get well cocker kisses to your boy :luv:
-
Oh poor lovely Dallas - fingers crossed it's a bad infection. You must be fraught with worry. Hang in there. Get better soon Dallas - lots & lots of love coming your way. :luv: :luv: :luv: :luv: :luv:
-
Aw poor Dalls - so sorry to hear he's under the weather. Fingers crossed it's just a nasty infection :luv:
-
Sorry to hear Dallas is poorly. Hopefully the drugs will do the trick. Do you think it has anything to do with the vasectomy?
Bailey sends him big licks ;)
-
Poor Dallas; I'm so sorry it wasn't better news at the vets,Gill.
Hopefully the injections & tablets will kick in & he'll start to feel better.
Ditto.... sending lots of hugs to you both xxx
-
Ouch ph34r
Hopefully, it is just an infection - "orchitis" I think is the medical term; its actually quite common in humans, but men don't like to share ph34r I'm sure if it was anything more serious, then there would have been some indication when he had his recent op ;)
Gentle ((hugs)) to Dallas - lots of healing thoughts :luv:
-
Poor Dallas and poor you, its just horrible when they are ill, you feel so helpless. :'(
Hopefully he will start to feel a bit better when all the drugs kick in and will be back to his usual bouncing self
very gentle hugs from Ben and me
Bens mum

Oh Gill - poor Dallas and poor you. I really hope it's an infection - nasty though that is. Lets hope all the medication does it's job. Keep us posted :luv:
-
I really hope the meds do the job. Hugs and :-* :-* to the wee man from us :luv:
-
Do you think it has anything to do with the vasectomy?
That thought did occur to me but unfortunately it was after I had left the vets ph34r The vet who did the surgery will be in today so I will tell him whats happened and see what he thinks.
On the plus side, he appears to be a bit better in himself so hopefully the injections have helped and the tablets can carry that on
-
Poor poor Dallas, no wonder he's been feeling out of sorts. Glad to hear he's a little perkier today - fingers crossed that continues and its just the infection.
Thinking of you both, Clive sends kisses :-*
-
Gill - hope Dallas gets better soon - these cockers like to give us something to worry about.
Hurley sends cocker kisses!

Glad he's a bit brighter today, hope he's back to his normal self soon ;)

-
Hope its just an infection that will clear up quickly. No wonder he was feeling unwell poor love
-
Aaawww.... poor boy. Hope he is feeling better soon, lots and lots of extra kisses and cuddles in order, gentle ones of course. :luv:
-
According to our vet who did the surgery, its not going to be a tumour but could be related to the op. If it doesn't clear though, then we could be looking at castration - apparently, the colour drained from my face at the mention of that :005: :005: But if it has to be done then so be it.
-
Oh big phew - at least it's not a tumour!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank god for that!!!!!!!!!! :D Ah well - if he has to lose his plums then so be it - small price to pay for him to be well though I guess - poor Dallas!!!! :005: :luv: :005: Get better soon mate!! ;)
-
So glad to hear that it's unlikely to be a tumour.

Dallas will probably be eternally grateful to you for it if it means no more pain. He wont be the one feeling bad.
-
So pleased to hear it won't be a tumour and that he is perkier today :luv:
Hope the meds nip it in the bud and he won't have to have his buds nipped!! :shades:
Love and :-* :-* from us :luv:
-

-
HI Gill,
Sorry I have only just seen this post.
I hope Dallas can be much better soon, whatever it takes.
Wishing you all the best of luck.
-
How's the little man today Gill?
-
Hes doing fine thanks Mary. Back to eating and whinging - not necessarily in that order  He is still very swollen but I think it may have decreased in size. I keep copping a feel everytime he walks past so he is now avoiding me like the plague ph34r
-
Glad he's getting back to feeling himself, if you know what I mean :005: :shades:
-
Only just read this thread, I hope Dallas continues to recover well Gill.
-
Good to hear he is improving - hope more surgery isn't required
-
Just back from the vets and she was pleased with how he has responded to the medication. There is still a thickened area but it is not causing him any pain so he has to go back in another 2 weeks to have it checked again. She did ask me if I was planning to breed from him so I don't know if castration might still have to be an option - I was too scared to ask incase it put ideas in her head :005:
-
Glad to hear he's doing well, Gill. Let's hope it will continue. Sending lots of positive thoughts to the lovely boy :luv:
Sue and Tilly

Good to hear he is improving on the medication - I hope he is fully back to normal soon :D

If it is Orchitis (which is a nice general term for inflammation of the testicles secondary to infection), then it carries with it a risk of sterility, which may be why she asked ph34r
This is how the mumps infection can cause sterility in men - but if it is one-sided, then it usually leaves the other side undamaged ;)
-
yey - glad Dallas is doing well!! :luv:
-
Great news.
-
Great news Gill, that Dallas is improving :D
-
The vet we saw this evening (who may just be the best looking man in the whole world - think I will change my rating of my vets to excellent just for him alone :luv:) had a good feel of the offending testicle and although there is still a slight thickening, he isn't concerned about it and has signed him off :D We did discuss castration but he agreed that it would be a drastic measure on the account of one infection that responded well to treatment but if it was to recur, then we may need to think again but he doesn't see any reason why it won't just be a one-off
-
That's great news Gill :D . Fingers crossed for no more infections.
-
That's great news. Lets hope that's the end of it now.
-
Awww thats great news Gill. :D
-
So pleased to hear alls well. ;)

-

I'm so glad that he's feeling better now. :luv:
-
That's really good news Gill;hopefully that will be an end to his problem.

God forbid you should have any more problems with the dogs but if you do at least it will be a pleasure to visit that vet again!! ;) :005:
-
Glad all is well with Dallas, next time get a sneaky pic of your vet so we can all have a look :005:
-
I agree - cant you put a posting on of the vet !!!! ::)

:-\ Please tell me he isn't a Kiwi Gill ph34r
-
No, not a kiwi....why? Do they have a reputation?
-
No, not a kiwi....why? Do they have a reputation?
Phew :D That's good. Not at all (although choccydrop may know what sort of reputation if they do ;) ). but mine was a Kiwi, gorgeous to look at and quite charming. If you have a look at my thread of last week 'Would you dump your vet if they drank?' you will understand the :-\ . He has now left the practice for pastures new, but I don't know where. He may still be practising in England and I was concerned he may have turned up in your neck of the woods ph34r .
