Sore on ear
« on: December 05, 2012, 12:06:13 PM »
I was brushing Rileys ears the other night and at the top outer part the comb seemed to catch something, He squealed a little bit, I assumed it was a tangle but was suprised as his ears are silky and brushed every day.
Closer looking today while he was on the table I could part the hair to see a little sore, can feel it as a little lump, presuming thats what the comb was catching. Its very hard to see it and he isnt keen to stay put long for me to part the hair but I managed to see what looks like a tiny sore bit.

Could I use some germolene or sudocrem on it or would I need special stuff, anyone ?

The ear is a common place for
histiocytomas to occur,
see if you can get a good look and have
a quick google for images of
histiocytoma just to check.

I had a google, Im not sure to be honest. I dont know if this is a lump or the sore part is a skin irritation, it looks like some crusty skin around it, not much though. Will have better look when hubby is home and can help . Thanks

Also Jane, before you do, don't worry :).

Can you bribe him with treats to look at it?
My beautiful little boy Charlie :)

Hi Emma,
I did manage to part the hair and he kept still bless him, kept saying what a good boy he was , he is so trusting bless him.
Its like almost a scab, tiny bit crusty. I am going to see how it goes over the weekend , if its not gone by monday I shall visit the vet just incase.
He might have caught it when he scratched etc, really not sure.
Thanks for your concern.
