Bad Breath
« on: December 30, 2012, 09:05:30 PM »
My 6 year old rescue Cocker Joey has got exceptionally bad breath. He is fed a dry diet with  the odd biscuit as a treat. I Have had him since May and other people have told me his breath is a bit smelly. Fishy mostly.  Hes not on any fish based food. I lost my sense of smell about a year ago so cant smell it. But the last few days even i keep getting a wiff of it.  I Bought a tooth brush and hes let me brush his teeth a few times but it hasn't helped. I will take him to the vet to see if its teeth. But was wondering if any of you had an idea of what it could be.

The fishy smell is typical of an anal gland problem.

I agree fishy smell is usually anal gland whiff, but since you struggle to smell anyway maybe it could be an infection associated with his lipfolds. You may be better getting him checked at the vets to see what they make of the smell.
