My Jo Jo who we lost just before Easter (sigh) had numerous bouts of this . I found the best thing was to get the vet to shave and clean it ( yes it was a nightmare) and although  initially suralan was prescribed, athletes foot powder was the best for her . . I found this out in desperation one bank holiday!!!!! As the vets bills were ridiculous . . Also cider vinegar. . Not saying it will help everyone but maybe worth a try

I have had 3 dogs over the years with this, which we treated for some time, but then eventually with the last two I opted for the lip fold op. Bit of a lip tuck.  :shades: :005: Never looked back. Never ever a single problem again.  :D

what is the cost of the op roughly & does it have a high success rate?

Ozzie had very bad lip fold problems. The smell would knock out an elephant at 20 paces and it was very sore. She had the nip and tuck on both sides of her lower jaw nearly two years ago and has been fine ever since. Sending the young spangle a hug.

Thank you all for your input and advice, we are  trying to persevere with the fuciderm with limited success, Wills has upped his co-operation fee to a sausage now, and he's still not that co-operative. It's so annoying, if only he would let us treat it I'm sure it would clear up.

Once the small tube of fuciderm is finished, a review with the Vet and a decision to be made. It's re-assuring to hear from those who have gone thro' with the procedure that it seems to have worked.

Poor Wills. I hope the fuciderm does the trick. It's so frustrating when they won't cooperate to let us help them. I don't think a whole roast dinner would convince Archie to let me put drops in his ears. I had to wait until he was dozing and sneak them in.  >:( He quite enjoyed the post drop ear rub though.

the trouble with fuciderm is that it just gets washed off in that area which is why it has a limited effect

Things have not improved with William's infection and the decision was made this morning at the Vets to have the lip fold operation, which will be done tomorrow morning.

Not happy about putting Wills under the knife again so soon, but at least it is not invasive surgery, although anaesthetic is always a worry. Still, not much time to get increasingly anxious about it, but we'll surely be relieved when he's back home tomorrow afternoon.
