Sorry Im not following this - is there a reason they had a vasectomy rather than a castration? Also, do you know how it will affect them? (Sorry if you have already gone into this elsewhere - Ive never come across a vasectomised dog before. Now its common for ferrets - but thats another story )
I don't want to have them castrated if at all possible and we have a little bitch pup joining the family and I would like to show her so she won't be spayed. When she is in season, the plan is to have someone look after her for the middle week and for her to stay here for the other 2 weeks. Obviously it won't have any effect on hormones so those two boys may still want to have their wicked way with her (but then again, so might my neutered boy who is prone to humping his toy monkey
) but at least if they do get to her, we won't have any accidents. Having never had a bitch before, the first season will be very much a learning curve for all of us and our plan may need to be tweaked a little - we will just have to wait and see how we get on
The vet who performed the surgery said that it shouldn't affect them in any way but he got that from a textbook as he has never performed it before
