After you'd all gone home from the SE meet, Helen and I took our dogs for another little gadabout, while we were waiting for Helens OH. To cut a long story short, Tilly was bitten by an adder, I saw it happen from a distance, and then I went to check that it was actually an adder - it was
soo, I phoned the emergency vets, carried Tilly back to the car - and drove extremely fast
to the vets. On the journey there, she became very quiet, and obviously very poorly. She was put straight onto a drip, given injectable steroids and anti histamines.... I then went to the local A & E to get adder anti venom (vets aren't allowed to stock it ?), and then drove (very fast again
) back to the vets. They are administering the anti venom now, and throughout the night. She was bitten on the face, so her little face is all swollen up, and she is very "upset" at being in the vets.... the prognosis is unknown really - they said we should know in the next 48 hours if she will be ok - adder bites can be fatal
So lots of healing thoughts please to Tils - of course I'll update you as soon as I know anything more. She's thankfully a healthy strong girl, so I'm keeping everything crossed she'll be home in a few days and will be ok.
Up until then we'd had such a lovely day
