I posted last week about Gari not being "right" and the vet thought he had a sore stomach. Today he started to cry and stagger, then collapsed, his gums and eyes went white. I got him straight to the vet where he was given pain relief and fluids, but he was in such terrible pain that the vet had to sedate him. His temperature was high and his breathing was rapid, although his heart rate was good. His bloods were normal, but a full blood test has been sent to the lab for testing.
The vet did an ultrasound on him, but didn't really see anything, apart from a slightly larger lobe on one side of his liver. They think he may have pancreatitis, or worse case scenario, a tumour. They have told me there may not be positive outcome for him.
He is now in the out of hours vets on morphine and fluids, and they said if he deteriorates before his full blood results are back, they will open him up to see what is causing such terrible pain.
They will phone me in a couple of hours with an update.
I am in tears at the moment, I cannot bear the thought of losing my boy. The worst bit, apart from looking into his eyes as we were leaving him there, was hearing my big macho OH burst into tears when we got home.
